Area Coordinating Councils

Where operating, the Yount Program for Educational Advancement operates through priesthood authority and direction as shown in the following chart. Area Coordinating Councils preside over the field operation of the Yount Program. These councils of stake presidents are chaired by an Area Seventy. Area Seventies or their representative meet with other Area Seventies periodically to review progress, identify needed improvements and provide direction. Each Area Coordinating Council has a coordinating council Education Specialist to assist them and provide guidance to the stake educational advancement specialists in their area.

Duties of Coordinating Council Education Specialists

  1. Understand the details of the Yount Program including its purposes and operation as a priesthood program.
  2. Work under the direction of the Area Coordinating Council.
  3. Assist local priesthood and Relief Society leaders as directed by the Area Coordinating Council and the Area Seventy presiding over it.
  4. See that stake presidents are briefed on the Yount Program, how it operates, and their duty to establish a culture of educational advancement.
  5. Train and support stake educational advancement specialists.
  6. Meet periodically with all stake specialists to provide direction and share ideas for improvement.
  7. Insure that there are enough trained Yount Seminar instructors to meet the needs of the Area and coordinate their use by stakes and wards.
  8. Collect quarterly reports from stake advancement specialists and submit a quarterly report to Area priesthood leaders and Yount headquarters.
  9. Work with the local Employment Center to facilitate the delivery of the Career Workshop as needed by seminar participants.

10.  Make recommendations for Yount improvement to the Area Coordinating Council and Yount Headquarters.
