Stake and Ward Educational Advancement Specialists

Duties of a Coordinating Council Education Specialist

  1. Understand the details of the Yount Program including its purposes and operation as a priesthood program.
  2. Work under the direction of the Area Coordinating Council.
  3. Assist local priesthood and Relief Society leaders as directed by the Area Coordinating Council and the Area Seventy presiding over it.
  4. See that stake presidents are briefed on the Yount Program, how it operates, and their duty to establish a culture of educational advancement.
  5. Train and support stake educational advancement specialists.
  6. Insure that there are enough trained Yount Seminar instructors to meet the needs of the Area and coordinate their use by local education specialists.
  7. Collect quarterly reports from stake advancement specialists and submit a quarterly report to Area priesthood leaders and Yount headquarters.
  8. Work with the local Employment Center to facilitate the delivery of the Career Workshop as needed by seminar participants.
  9. Make recommendations for Yount improvement to the Area Coordinating Council and Yount Headquarters.
  10. Meet periodically with all stake specialists to share ideas for improvement.

Duties of Stake Educational Advancement Specialist

  1. Train the stake council on the need for educational advancement, how the Yount Program assists members with that responsibility, and how it operates as a priesthood program.
  2. Train new ward educational advancement specialists and keep them current.
  3. Provide leadership, guidance and support to ward education specialists.
  4. Assist the ward specialists in the training of ward councils and quorums.
  5. Arrange to have the Yount Seminar taught to member groups.
  6. Train mentors who are called to track individual progress and success.
  7. Collect monthly reports from ward advancement specialists and submit a summary report to the Area specialist and the stake council.
  8. Assist loan applicants in the signing of loan documents.
  9. Make recommendations for program improvement at stake and area level.

Duties of Ward Educational Advancement Specialist

  1. See that all ward members are briefed on the necessity of educational advancement and the helps available through the Yount Program.
  2. Round up members in need of different kinds of educational advancement and schedule a seminar utilizing a trained instructor.
  3. Assign mentors to track the educational progress of selected participants.
  4. Maintain a ward tracking sheet and submit monthly reports to stake advancement specialists and ward leaders.
  5. Get help as needed from stake educational advancement specialist.
