How the Yount Program Works
The Yount Program for Educational Advancement is a pilot priesthood program that operates through the existing stake and ward organization. The intent is to raise the educational attainment level of members. Educational advancement is getting more complex and more difficult for members. Since there are so many technical aspects to formal education, stake and ward specialists are called and trained to assist. The attached chart shows the connection with leaders and Church Councils at the Area, stake and ward level.

The program unfolds as follows.
- Priesthood leaders beginning with stake presidents and bishops establish a climate and expectation of educational advancement. They stress that education is a modern command for all.
- Under the direction of the ward council, the ward educational advancement specialists orient groups of members and invite them to attend a Yount Seminar or a special fireside related to their current educational status and need. Members are referred to the www.yountprogram.org website for the details.
- Groups are gathered and stake education specialist arranges for seminar instructors or fireside presenters as needed.
- Members take the training, develop education plans, and prepare for schooling as called for in their plan. (See seminar details and chart of content by current educational status.)
- Mentors are called as needed and assigned to monitor the progress of individuals, provide personal support, and arrange help as needed.
Questions may be addressed to the local stake educational advancement specialist (found in the contact list on the website) or by contacting Yount Headquarters as noted on the website.
