YOUNT PROGRAM -  Mini Grants and School Loans

Priesthood Orientation

THE NEED FOR EDUCATIONAL ADVANCEMENT
President Monson, along with president Hinckley and his predecessors have encouraged people to get as much education as possible. President Hinckley said it was a mandate from the Lord. Education and career preparation go together. The family, the Church and the community all benefit from the educational advancement of individual members. Whether preparing for this life or the next, the development of one’s talents is important and desirable.
A PRIESTHOOD RESPONSIBILITY
Encouraging and assisting educational advancement is a priesthood responsibility. The Yount program was designed to assist the priesthood in that responsibility. The Yount Seminar has been developed to assist in that effort. Some areas and special populations are eligible to apply for a mini grant or a school loan.

The Yount Program  -  Introduced in a fireside where people can register for the seminar.

Yount Seminar  -  Through the seminar and self-help exercises, participants explore their potential and what it will take to get there. They learn how to solve any existing problems and how to get into and succeed in school All members are eligible to attend the seminar. The seminar takes 4-6 hours plus self-help exercises.
Yount Mini Grants - Where the Yount program is authorized, worthy LDS Church members age 18-40 can apply for a mini grant of up to $500 to pay for schooling that will prepare them for college or technical training. Grants can also be used for job upgrade training.
Yount School Loans  -  After going through the seminar most participants will be able to find enough financial aid that they will not have to take out a loan. However, worthy members, age 18-40, who need additional funds are eligible to apply for a Yount Loan.
Yount Program Support - Church Service Missionaries or Yount helpers facilitate preparation and progress. They also maintain contact and provide support throughout schooling endeavors.
